You know what comes with the arrival of summer, it's the festival of colors! ❤️💛💙

Taking care of your hair and skin is important so that you still look like yourself after all the splashes of those chemical and metallic colors. Without precautions, these colors can cause negative health effects like severe skin rashes, allergies, dry brittle hair and even eye irritation. It's time you prep yourself for all the pakka colors! These 5 tips would help you sail through the aftermath!

1. Moisturise with olive oil
You must have heard about oils as the best remedy for all your hair and skin problems from your mom, right? Well, we definitely approve of that fact!
Make sure to massage a generous amount of olive oil (or coconut oil) all over your body and hair before Holi to avoid absorption of colors by the skin. Oil acts as a barrier between colors and skin.

2. Nail care
Even your nails require some care! But don't worry you don't need any extra product for it, just put your favorite nail enamel on your nails and flaunt them through the festival! By applying a coat of nail paint, the colors won't stick to your nails. You can use any color, however, a dark shade would do much better. Also, make sure your cuticles are generously oiled before stepping out!

3. Exfoliate with sugar
Once you're done with prepping up for the festival, its time to deal with the aftermath! Did you know that sugar is the best natural and easily available scrub you can think of? It naturally removes dead skin and leaves skin glowing and healthy. Here's how you can make a DIY sugar scrub at home -

  •  1 tsp organic sugar (try to granulate it to smaller size)
  •  1 – 2 drops of water
  •  1 – 2 drops of any essential oil / glycerin (Glycerin is easily available at any local chemist)

Gently rub scrub onto face. Remove by rinsing with cool water, and pat dry with a clean towel. Add on a layer of oil as a moisturizer, if necessary and you'll be good to go!

4. DIY Herbal Face Pack
You can use a paste of besan, curd, and lemon and apply all over your face and gently scrub in circular motions. Wash it off with cool water after it dries. Besan would help in getting back the glowing skin naturally, Curd would help in skin glow, remove darkness, get rid of acne and wrinkles caused due to the color and lemon contains citrus acid in it which acts as a natural bleaching component. The bleaching properties in it help to brighten the color of your skin which may have become dull.

5. Aloe-vera Mask before shampoo
Before shampooing your hair, you can use Aloe-vera as a hair mask to get rid of any itching and irritation. Aloe Vera – the miracle plant is an ideal remedy for solving majority of your hair woes – it helps soothe an itchy, irritable scalp and protect your hair from damage.
